Sarah thought returning home after her overseas government assignment would be a normal visit, but when she entered her parents’ house, she found a celebration waiting for her brother Jake, complete with a cake, decorations, and everyone congratulating him for selling her house.
Jake proudly announced that he had sold Sarah’s Clintonville home for $300,000 while she was away, claiming he had saved her from problems she never actually had, but Sarah immediately knew something was wrong because she had never given him permission to sell the property.
When Jake showed her the paperwork, including a power of attorney and deed transfer, Sarah noticed the signature looked fake and the documents did not match the records she knew, turning what looked like a family announcement into a possible crime.
Before she could understand everything happening, she received a call from the buyer’s lawyer, James Wheeler, who explained that the new owners had purchased the home in good faith but were now facing questions because investigators had arrived at his office.
The buyers, David and Michelle, had already moved in and prepared a room for their baby, completely unaware that Jake had created a false sale using Sarah’s private information and documents.
Sarah immediately stopped the release of funds and contacted an attorney because she realized her brother had not made a mistake.
He had planned it.
The evidence Jake thought would protect him was about to expose everything he had done behind Sarah’s back. But the biggest shock came when investigators uncovered why he needed the money so badly in the first place.
