I Took A Quick Shower And My Husband Raged Until I Watched The Camera Footage2

I watched the whole recording, shaking. The woman stayed fourteen minutes, sitting beside him while four small children played inches away. She never once looked at them. When the shower water shut off upstairs, my husband hurried her out the back door, then sat on the couch and rehearsed an angry face. His fury was not about the children. It was about being caught.

I did not confront him that night. I copied the footage to my email and to my sister’s account, and I called her at midnight. She drove over at dawn with her husband and a lawyer friend. When my husband came downstairs, I placed my laptop on the kitchen table and pressed play. He went pale before the first minute ended and tried to say it was a coworker. The camera showed otherwise.

He moved out that week. The lawyer explained that the footage and his admitted behavior would matter in court. I felt relief and grief together. My sister stayed for a month, helping with bedtime, and I finally took showers without counting minutes. I enrolled in a part-time course, and a neighbor became a reliable babysitter.

The divorce was finalized within the year. I received the house, primary custody, and fair support, and my ex learned that a paycheck does not excuse absence. The children laugh more now. The baby found his pacifier under the couch, and I keep the camera running, because the truth finally kept us safe.
