How Often Should You Wash Your Pajamas After a Viral TikTok Confession

Allison Delperdang’s TikTok confession started a familiar argument. She said she wears her pajamas for more than one night before they go in the wash. Some viewers were horrified. Others said they do the same. The question underneath the comments is simple. How often should sleepwear actually be washed, and why does it matter?

There is no single number that fits everyone. Fabric makes a difference. Cotton and bamboo breathe and can usually handle a few wears. Synthetics hold sweat and odor longer. Personal comfort matters too. People who sweat more at night, or who have sensitive skin, will need a shorter cycle between washes. Water and energy use also count for anyone trying to keep laundry lighter. Those factors together decide whether two nights is fine or whether the pajamas should go in after one.

The case for regular washing is practical. Skin cells and sweat collect on fabric while you sleep, and that can become a place for bacteria if the pajamas stay unwashed too long. Odor builds the same way. Dirty sleepwear can also irritate skin or contribute to breakouts. Freshly washed pajamas simply feel better. They are softer, they smell clean, and they make the bed feel more inviting when you get in.

A reasonable middle ground is three to four wears before a wash, adjusted for the fabric and for how you sleep. If the pajamas look soiled, smell off, or feel uncomfortable, wash them sooner. The debate will keep dividing people who wash every night from people who stretch a pair across the week. The useful answer is the one that keeps the fabric clean enough for your skin and your sleep, without turning every morning into an unnecessary load of laundry.
