The Two Calls I Made From My Bed That Turned Their Abandonment Into A Trap

The first call, the second their car left the driveway, was to my sister, who arrived within the hour to care for me and my daughter. The decision I made before I fell asleep, the one Grayson never imagined I was capable of, was the third thing I did that night, quietly, from my bed with my leg in a brace and my ribs screaming with every breath.
